In helping out promote some of the historical places in the Philippines, I am here again writing something about the Corregidor. Not more than two years ago, August 2009 to be exact :) we together with one of our expats from Utah named Kevin Matthews went to this place, rainshower greeted us as we left our tryst and dark sky of Manila helped us reached the place. Opposite of Manila, we were waved hi by Corregidor on a sunny bright sky, o wow.
Here are the photos, hover over and click to see my original post.
Ours was a day package which I mentioned in my older post, archived August 2009 :) . Stepping on the area of Corregidor, we were toured by the bus to different areas of the historical place, from Mc. Arthur statue to Barracks, to some of guns and bombs and museum.
I became darker on this tour, but was educational and fun. I rediscovered Philippine history as well as Corregidor, how the Americans helped Filipinos fought the Japanese. Bloody but showed how we were loved by them. Today is different, we are now making good relationship with the Japanese, in fact, they are one of the countries who have invested much in our country. Those bloddy days are gone, what remains is just a part of the history, a tale to tell to our children and grandchildren. I love our country, I treasure our Philippine history.
Till then,
